We made a quick stop at Uncle Tetsu while passing through the mall, and it was a sweet little detour! Though our visit was brief, we managed to grab one of their honey Madeleines — and it did not disappoint. The flavor was wonderfully rich yet delicate, and the texture was impressively soft and cloud-like, almost melting in the mouth. It felt like a light and satisfying treat, perfect for an afternoon snack or a small indulgence. Service was quick and efficient — we were in and out in just a few minutes, which is always appreciated when you're on the go. The staff were polite and friendly, and the overall vibe of the stall was clean and inviting. That said, I was hoping for a bit more variety in the offerings. The menu felt somewhat limited, and while everything looked beautifully presented, I think a few more options would elevate the experience — especially for returning customers or those seeking something beyond the staples. Still, it's a lovely spot if you're craving something soft, subtly sweet, and distinctly Japanese in style. I’d definitely like to come back and try their signature Japanese cheesecake next time — it’s what they’re famous for, after all. It's a solid spot for a quick, satisfying treat, especially if you’re already in the mall!

I had an amazing experience at Uncle Tetsu! The Japanese cheesecake is incredibly airy and delicious. If you're visiting during the weekend or holidays, be prepared for a bit of a wait. Pro tip: ask for a fresh cake if it's not too busy; otherwise, you might end up with a cold one. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Definitely worth the visit for the delightful cheesecake experience!

Long overdue review. We visited Uncle Tetsu shortly after it opened and waited in line for over half an hour before we got our hands on their products. This was due to them only having one till available and a slow cashier. Now, you can basically walk right up and get everything you want without lining up. Overall, I would give them 3.5 stars. First off, the strong aroma of cheese and butter once you get to the cash register is beautifully welcoming. Watching the bakers prepare and remove freshly baked goods through the glass only added to the anticipation of finally indulging in them. We picked up an original cheesecake, honey madeleines, and cheese tarts. Unfortunately, both the cake and madeleines fell short from our previous experience. They didn't have the same flavour or texture as the ones I had in Ottawa. The tarts were a first for us so we couldn't compare them to anything. The creamy filling was pretty good, though the shell was on the hard side - probably so the filling didn't leak through. As many had also commented, the taste differs from other locations. I believe this is due to differences in environment because I've seen recipes that mention adjustments when the altitude and/or humidity is above or below a certain number. They finally expanded their flavours and added the chocolate cheesecake to their menu a while back. Hopefully, they will offer the full range of products soon so there are more varieties to choose from.

We go to this location every year because we love Uncle Tetsu. We even bought 7 cheesecakes today before we left Calgary. However, we had a very negative experience due to a staff named Abigail. For example, she was visibly upset at me when I changed my mind—upon ordering, I changed my mind from buying 1 cheesecake to 3 cheesecakes. Due to this, she had to cancel the debit machine by pressing the red button and began sighing and rolling her eyes at us. Additionally, she kept looking at their “stock” cheesecakes, upset that we were purchasing more cheesecakes. We remained polite, never disrespected her. However, I was appalled at how she constantly rolled her eyes at me, my mom, and my brother unprovoked. She was visibly upset and disrespectful towards us. I am genuinely confused with her attitude, as if it was frowned upon to give them more business. I hope her attitude gets fixed, or that she doesn’t come to work miserable. Respectfully, Angeli.

Recently, I tried this delicacy from Uncle Tetsu Calgary outlet, and it left a lasting impression. The velvety smoothness melts in your mouth, leaving a subtle hint of cream cheese that is both satisfying and not overpowering. There will be a long queue always and I had to wait for almost 40 mins for my turn.

I recently visited Uncle Tetsu’s shop at CrossIron Mills in Calgary and tried their cheesecake and honey madeleine for the first time. Both were delicious, but the cheesecake stood out the most. It had a soft, spongy texture and wasn’t overly sweet, making it a perfect balance. Definitely a must-try if you’re in the area!

Gate 2 is the closest. The cheese cake is light and fluffy. The moistness of the cheese cake Doesn’t mean it’s uncooked it’s just that way for the first few hours when it’s taken out from the oven. If you want a more thicker texture I recommend that it’s placed in the fridge or left to cool down. The pricing for the cheese cake is $15.50 which is fair. The cheese tarts are supper soft and creamy with a nice hard shell. The line up is very long they will only sell one cheesecake per person/group. We’ll probably buy again once the crowed slows down.
